Evaluation for London Project(Unit 2)

Evaluation for Unit 2 London Project

The Location of our group is Bethnal Green (E2). We have research this area deeply and designed a game called ‘scavenger hunt’ for other groups to play.

Bethnal Green is an area of London Borough of Tower Hamlets; it is in the east of Central London. The transportation there is very convenient. An easy way to get there is taking the underground (Zone two). The nearest tube stations are Bethnal Green tube station, Whitechapel tube station, and Stepney Green tube Station, The Central line tube station at the junction of Bethnal Green Road, Roman Road and Cambridge Heath Road.
‘The District was originally a part of the Parish of Stepney, but formed a separate on the 19th century, as the population in creased ,The parish bordered the London Borough of Hackney in the north and west (at Shoreditch ) and Mile End in the east, To the south is White chapel.’ (

Bethnal Green is a nice place and it has quite a lot interest place there. The V&A Museum of Childhood (found in 1872) in Bethnal Green is the first one, It is a specialist museum of childhood. It has the largest collection of childhood objects in the United. Another Place is Centre for Recent Drawing (found in 2004), this place is for the exhibition of recent drawing, also people could discuss the work, and many arts activities will take place there. Next one is London Buddhist Centre (opened in 1978). It is part of a local network of Buddhist businesses and organisations within Buddhist communities. The parish church is another interest place as well in Bethnal Green. It is next to the tube station, and it serves the local people especial the people in that area. On the west side of Cambridge Health Road are Council Offices and, Bethnal Green Station.

Bethnal Green is a prosperity place .It is clearly to see when people go out of the tube station. They can see many shops, restaurants, estate agencies, etc. During my investigation, I found out that many students from London University rental a flat there; therefore, there are many people from different countries on the street. And there are many estate agencies on the street (e.g. Meade, Globe, etc); they promote many residential housing for people,

The game that our group design is in the famous places around Bethnal Green. We made many questions, they are very interesting, and Because Bethnal Green is such a big area, with too many things in it. We asked people to find this park, which is Bethnal Green Park. We only tell them that are a place for rest, a place for learns, green, etc. not much detail. After that, we asked them to find a place which is ‘colourful round circle, spotty, which in on the playground. I think it is really difficult find people find, that is tricky. And they need to take a picture together in front of that ‘colourful spotty thing ‘.The things on the playground is not that difficult to see ,but people need to spend time on finding the playground; also they need to find out an artist’s painting in the art shop. They need to take a picture in front of it. Our group only mention the named of the artist, and the road number of that shop, this could be make the last question more easier; We have ask them to go to the gallery and ask for one application form; we also ask people to go to the museum of childhood. We would like ask them to spend more time in it, Finding a artist’s work, taking pictures ; drawing a model which is the famous building in London('gherkin' building) ; find a lamp which can changing colours ,and take pictures when it turns green…etc. ,Anyways, there are many questions wait for them ,and they are not easy.

In conclusion, our group did a lot of work on this project, and we have four meeting s to discuss the game. Some girls they make the question sheets, and some of them are thinking about the question. The most successful part I think is that we make a lot of question, and they can do a lot of work. Because of the process, they could understand Bethnal Green quite well. Also, we try to make the game interesting, make sure they will not spend too much time walking on the street outside, and they could gain some knowledge from the gallery and museum. We did make the game difficult. For example, we ask them to find the artists’ work and take pictures, and we ask them to find the ‘colourful spotty circle ‘on the playground. They needed to spend a lot of energy on it. However, there is still some problem that we need to improve, People who play the game, they might feel boring if they are too much question, so that they want to give up. We could improve the game, maybe adding sound, logo, telephone number, video, etc, I think if we have more time to do, we could make it better; This project is really helpful for understanding the site in London. The place we made the game, and the place we played the game.
